Announcing the Wireless Microphone Fundraiser…

Dear Friend of Stagelight Family Productions,I am writing you today about a very important issue regarding the quality of future shows presented by our community theatre group.  As many of you are aware, there is a major change coming to the airwaves this summer as the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) completes the last stage of the transition to Digital TV by asking broadcasters to cease operating on their old “analog” frequencies and only transmit on the new “digital” frequencies.The FCC has already auctioned off the old “analog” TV frequencies for private development of a new class of wireless services, and mandated that all current users of these frequencies cease transmissions in June of this year.At this point you may be asking yourself “what does this have to do with the shows produced by Stagelight”?  As with most modern stage productions, SFP makes extensive use of wireless microphone technology to enhance the theatrical experience for our audience members.  Clarity of the spoken word is an important part of the high production values we bring to each performance. These wireless systems operate in empty slots (called “white spaces”) in the old analog TV bands, many of which will no longer be legally available for our use.

Fortunately, the FCC has heard the voices of production companies from Broadway to Brea and has allocated an alternate set of frequencies reserved for use by wireless microphone operators.  Unfortunately, this means a significant expenditure for Stagelight to upgrade to a modern system that not only works on the new frequencies, but also actively searches for clear channels at each venue.

To make this transition WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!  Each fully equipped wireless microphone set costs in excess of $1,000.  With 12 microphones to replace, we will need to raise significant funds. To meet this need, I have established the “Stagelight Wireless Microphone Fund” and would sincerely appreciate your Tax Deductible Donation of $25, $50, $100 or more to help purchase the necessary equipment. Please click on the “Donate” button at the bottom of this email to make your contribution via the web, or send a check made payable to “Stagelight Family Productions” with the notation “Microphone Fund” in the memo field to:
